History of Downtown Riverwalk
Bradenton, lying on the south bank of the Manatee River, was founded in the 1840s and named after the two siblings Joseph and Hector Braden, who were the early settlers. In 1943, Bradenton was formed when the town of Manatee merged with Bradenton. Since then, it was known as Bradenton with the new motto, “A Friendly City.”
The park around the river was formerly known as Rossi Park or Waterfront Park. In June 2010, Bradenton Development Authority authorized Kimley-Horn to design it, where he brought substantial development to Rossi Park and the surrounding waterfront area. It was open to the public on October 18th, 2012.
There is diversity in the flourishing economy of this city. Tourism, Seafood production, manufacturing, and shipping are the main economic drives. If you’re planning to retire and escape from the hustle-bustle city life, the serene beauty and calmness of Bradenton will definitely attract you.
